Baby's First Visit to Santa at Willowbrook Mall

Baby’s First Picture with Santa!

Santa Claus is at Willowbrook Mall Daily Through Thursday, December 24

Santa Claus arrived at Willowbrook Mall in early November and the week before Thanksgiving, this little one popped into for her very first visit with the big guy. Dressed in her cutest holiday finery, she spent most of the visit demonstrating her newfound crawling skills for Santa.

Santa is settled in his home-away-from-home, ready to greet visitors and listen to holiday wishes of kids both young and old with his elves nearby, prepared to lend a helping hand and snap a commemorative photo. Find Santa nestled in his holiday wonderland near JCPenney.

New this holiday season, guests have the opportunity to reserve their visit with Santa, enhancing the experience and eliminating the need to wait in line. Reservations can be made from the My Time with Santa feature on the mall’s web site at www.shopwillowbrookmall.com. Visitors can simply select a desired date and time and pre-purchase a photo package to secure a reservation. Guests will save 30% or more with their pre-purchase of a photo package through the reservation site. Reservations are not required to visit Santa.

In addition, Santa will host other holiday activities at Willowbrook Mall, including:

  • Pet Nights with Santa Claus: Willowbrook Mall hosts Pet Nights on Mondays through December 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Cats and dogs on a leash or in an appropriate carrier only, please. Animals, other than those servicing the disabled, are not allowed in the shopping center other than during on Pet Nights. Pet owners are asked to use Entrance 3 near Los Cucos Mexican Cafe.
  • Angel Tree: Shoppers are invited to choose an angel from The Salvation Army Tree and provide a gift for that child or senior citizen. Gifts can be dropped at the Angel Tree by Friday, December 18.
  • Family Portrait: While in line to see Santa, guests can stop and have a quick holiday photo taken of the whole group against a festive background. The Family Portrait photos will be available to see and purchase when viewing the photos taken with Santa.
  • Gift Wrapping: Here’s a merry idea for shoppers, beginning Saturday, December 12 through Thursday, December 24, shoppers can get gifts wrapped at a special station near Macy’s Men’s store. Proceeds go to charity.

Santa will be at Willowbrook Mall daily through Thursday, December 24. He does take breaks throughout the day, so be sure to check his schedule at www.shopwillowbrookmall.com.

PRESENTATION OF $10,000 FIRST PLACE CHECK TO CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL TUESDAY, JUNE 2.

On Monday and Tuesday, June 1 and 2, Sandy LaClave, general manager of Deerbrook Mall, traveled to three Humble schools, awarding $20,000 in cash prizes to the top three point earners in the center’s 2014-2015 My School’s Cool program. At each school, students and faculty celebrated the presentation and earned congratulations from Ms. LaClave on a job well done.

“Visiting each of the schools, learning about their programs and seeing the students was very inspiring. Each school was brimming with spirit and it was such an honor to be able to participate in the school day,” says Ms. LaClave. “The children at Bear Branch entertained us with a delightful performance of ‘Happy.’ At Quest, the hard-working high school students took time out from lunch to pose for pictures. And, at Cambridge, students greeted us with posters and smiles – and we enjoyed a tour of the school with all its programs. Thanks to each of the schools for the wonderful welcomes and for participating in My School’s Cool. Enjoy your summers and see you next year!”

Cambridge School, shown above, took home top honors, winning $10,000 of My School’s Cool cash. Principal Tammey Harlan, who has been at Cambridge for eight years, indicated that the school has big plans for the funds, including adding to the Mosaic Program Production, building a garden and more.

More technology is on the purchase list for Quest Early College High School, according to Principal Ginger Noyes, who is a 12-year veteran of the program which allows qualified students to earn both a high-school diploma and an Associate’s degree or up to two years of credit toward a Bachelor’s degree. Last year, Quest was awarded the top $10,000 prize with which the school purchased 30 Chromebooks and carts. With the $4,000 second place earnings for 2014-15, the school plans to add more Chromebooks.

Updating technology is on the agenda at Bear Branch Elementary School, the third place winner that took home $2,000. The student body at Bear Branch greeted Ms. LaClave with a special rendition of Pharrell William’s song “Happy.”

Eleven schools participated in the 2014-2015 My School’s Cool program. Each of the other schools was awarded $500, including Fall Creek Elementary School, Humble Elementary School, Kingwood Middle School, Maplebrook Elementary School, Northbelt Elementary School, Oak Forest Elementary School, Shadow Forest Elementary School and Timbers Elementary School.

The kick-off for the 2015-20s16 My School’s Cool program will be in August. Schools should contact

Sandra LaClave, general manager, at sandra.laclave@generalgrowth.com to inquire about participating. A limited number of public and private schools will be accepted on a first-come, first serve basis. Schools must be located in the Humble/Lake Houston area.

My School’s Cool is Deerbrook Mall’s special community program that awards a total of $20,000 in cash prizes to participating area schools. Since the program’s launch in 2010, Deerbrook Mall has given $100,000 in prize money to schools in the Humble/Lake Houston area. Previous $10,000 winners include 2013-14 Quest Early College High School; 2012-13 Quest Early College High School; 2011-12 Bear Branch Elementary School; and 2010-12 Shadow Forest Elementary School.
